Our investment team

The investment team consists of Sean Milbank and Matthew Sparrow – both bringing a personal and hands-on approach to our acquisitions. With experience across multiple sectors, managing people, cashflow and operations, they are well-positioned to lead both the vision and strategy to continue our success.

‘We work closely together, supporting the MDs and their teams to be independent and to succeed in delivering their goals for our people, our planet and profit. We are conscious it is a difficult balancing act, but we work with a great team, and collectively we are trying to be responsible custodians and citizens. We also work closely on acquisitions and have a hands-on approach to due diligence, using this in part as a process to get to know the businesses.”

Sean Milbank

Group Chairman

Sean is Chairman of the Milbank Group and says that this is the most enjoyable role he has ever had.

Sean was involved in setting up and running a number of businesses, however the journey has not always been straight forward or easy. A particular turning point was joining Milbank Floors as MD in 2008, when the business went through some particularly tricky times; it was this experience that helped form our strategy for growing though diversification.

Sean is proudly half Swedish and half British and is married with three adult sons, with whom he continues to try to compete with at various sports. Travel and adventure are at his very core and he can be often found on a mountain climbing or skiing when he is not playing hockey for his Bury St Edmunds hockey club.

Matthew Sparrow

Group Finance Director

Matt is the Group Finance Director, a role which he finds both challenging and incredibly rewarding.

Matt qualified in a small local accountancy practice, before moving into industry at the UK arm of a global agricultural business.  He joined Milbank Concrete Products in 2014 to oversee the Finance department and help develop and deliver the diversification strategy, alongside Sean.  This started with the creation of the Group structure followed by the first acquisition in 2016.

Outside of the office, Matt will either be found at home in the garden with his wife and two young daughters, picking their home grown fruit and veg or at the Lexden tennis club where he enjoys both competitive and friendly matches.
